Name one war the United States fought in the 1900s. Any of these is accepted:

  • World War I (1917 to 1918 for the U.S.)
  • World War II (1941 to 1945 for the U.S.)
  • Korean War (1950 to 1953)
  • Vietnam War (1960s to 1973)
  • (Persian) Gulf War (1990 to 1991)

Just be sure the war you name took place in the 1900s, not the 1800s. The two World Wars are the easiest to remember.

Answer with any one, such as “World War II.”

Why this is on the test

The test asks you to place American wars in the right century, and this question covers the 1900s. Both tests ask it the same way.

How this question is asked

On the 2025 civics test, the officer asks up to 20 of the 128 questions out loud and you pass by answering 12 correctly. You answer in your own words. There is no multiple choice and nothing to write down for the civics portion.
