2025 civics test · Question 126 · Holidays

Name three national U.S. holidays.

Give 3 of these answers

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Presidents Day (Washington's Birthday)
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

What this means

The United States has many national holidays. The 2008 test asks you to name two, and the 2025 test asks for three. Choose from:

  • New Year’s Day (January 1)
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January)
  • Presidents Day, also called Washington’s Birthday (February)
  • Memorial Day (May)
  • Juneteenth (June 19, a newer federal holiday)
  • Independence Day (July 4)
  • Labor Day (September)
  • Columbus Day (October)
  • Veterans Day (November 11)
  • Thanksgiving (November)
  • Christmas (December 25)

Pick whichever ones are easiest for you to say, and give the number the test asks for. An easy set is New Year’s Day, Independence Day, and Thanksgiving.

Why this is on the test

National holidays are an easy, friendly question, and both tests just ask you to name a few of them from a long, familiar list.

How this question is asked

On the 2025 civics test, the officer asks up to 20 of the 128 questions out loud and you pass by answering 12 correctly. You answer in your own words. There is no multiple choice and nothing to write down for the civics portion. This question is one where you must give 3 correct answers, not just one.
